I have the latest Nero version, but Nero ain't the problem, because even if I copy big files from the CD-burner WinXP crashes. I have the latest firmware (1.03) for plextor. But I have managed to run the burner in PIO mode know... I can even read from the CD-burner when I'm in PIO mode.

I'ma musician and I need a cd burner for my computer. I have a Force 3570 Packard Bell with intel 100 mhz pentium processor. I have 32 RAM & 1 GB hard disk drive ( WILL BE GETTING 20 GIGS SOON). Should I buy a cd burner for this system or should I invest money in a more advanced system?

When trying to play a music CD in my CD burner (Phillips CD-RW CDD-4801)using Windows Media Player 9 and Windows 98SE, the music "skips" like it can't read the data fast enough. When I play it it my regular CD-ROM it works fine. I never had this problem when I was using the old Windows CD-Player application.
